Mr. Luis Rodriguez

Principal

With 11 years of educational experience, Mr. Luis Rodriguez  will begin the role of principal of Esek Hopkin Middle School in August 2025. During his five-year tenure with Providence Public School Disrict (PPSD), Mr. Rodriguez served as Assistant Principal of Nathanael Greene Middle School where he developed operational, academic, cultural, and leadership skills at one of the top ranked Providence middle schools. Prior to this he served as PPSD’s Multilingual Learner (MLL) Manager for two years where he advocated and supported MLL students across over 20 schools ensuring equitable access to quality instruction and resources.  Before coming to Providence, Mr. Rodriguez worked with MLLs in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District in Ohio and Hillsborough County Public Schools in Florida. As a veteran, he also proudly served our nation developing leadership, discipline and cross-cultural communication skills while  in the United States Navy.

Mr. Rodriguez earned his Bachelor's degrees in English from the University of Tampa in Tampa, FL and his Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. 

Once and always a bilingual student, Mr. Rodriguez was raised to appreciate and value perseverance, service, and education. He is committed to creating a school environment where every student and family feels seen, valued, and supported. His early experiences sparked his passion for education and his drive to support all  learners. 

As a leader, Mr. Rodriguez is committed to cultivating a diverse and welcoming school environment for both staff and students. His vision for Esek Hopkin Middle School  is to provide students with a safe, engaging and nurturing learning community where all students strive for social emotional growth and academic excellence. He is an advocate for equity, cultural responsiveness, and student-centered learning.
